“A boor cannot be reverent. An ignoramus cannot be pious”

Rabbi Hillel

Simplified Meaning:

People who are rude or lack manners often can't show deep respect or admiration because they don't understand its importance. Similarly, someone who knows very little and is not interested in learning can't truly be devout or deeply religious. For example, if a person doesn't care about behaving well at a religious ceremony, they won't show respect for it. Or, if someone hasn't taken the time to learn about their faith, they won't be able to practice it sincerely. To truly respect something, whether it's a tradition or a belief, you need both the will to behave properly and the knowledge to understand why it matters. In everyday life, this means taking the time to learn and understand what's important to others and showing them respect through your actions.
