“The paradise of the rich is made out of the hell of the poor”
— Victor Hugo
Simplified Meaning:
Some people are very rich and live in luxury because others are very poor and suffer. Imagine a big, fancy mansion with beautiful gardens. This mansion is so wonderful because the workers who maintain it and clean it live in tiny, uncomfortable homes and get paid very little. For the rich to enjoy such great comfort, the poor have to do hard jobs for almost no money. This situation is seen in history too, like when kings lived in amazing castles while peasants worked all day in the fields for just enough food to survive. To improve things, we can pay attention to how our happiness or comfort affects others and try to help those who have less than us. By being fair and kind, we make sure everyone gets a better life, not just a few people.
